About Us

Our Story

How we met

I met my husband in my freshman year of the music program at Appalachian State University. I heard he played non-classical music on his cello, and since I played non-classical music on my violin, I kicked open the door of his practice room and told him we were going to play music together. He barely knew who I was, and he was pretty terrified of me. We became best friends almost immediately after we began to play as duet partners, and spent all of our spare time with each other. I liked him a lot, but sat him down one day at a coffee shop, told him, "I think we should just go ahead and commit to the fact that we're just going to be friends," and smiled. He smiled back and said, "Nope." He won.
check out his long hair and my short hair! Holy cow!

The Wedding

We dated for 2 years before we got engaged in November of our junior year. We had known since 2 weeks after we started dating that we were going to get married. We got married on May 19th, 2012, two weeks after exam week of our junior year. Our wedding was perfect. We had the ceremony at Strawberry Hill in Boone, North Carolina, and the reception at Harvest House in Boone. Our reception was county fair themed and everyone had a great time.

Today

As of right now, Everett and I are both in classes. He is taking an 18 hour course load as a Music Industry major with a concentration in Recording and Production, and I am taking 17 hours as a Management major. All but 2 of my classes are online, because Everett will need to do an internship outside of Boone before I graduate and I wanted to get started in the Distance Education program before we moved. (One adjustment at a time!) We both hate the question "What do you/are you going to do for a living?" because we do so many different things and the answer changes every day. Everett currently teaches cello in Lenoir and Boone, records full service projects, and composes and records soundtrack pieces with our friend Marshall. I work as an assistant for an elderly woman and take care of her laundry, errands, and transportation (as well as instruction reading for her Jitterbug). We also both play strings for other artists' recording projects, and have recently been working with John Mark McMillan for a few shows. We are extremely busy and extremely blessed. I constantly get stopped in my tracks and have to praise God because the weight of His glory is so intense. This life is ours, and it is life abundant. We are so excited to see what's next.
